So just when you think this sad old city has shown you everything, ankles and all, you meet a fascinating older woman who is a Christian Science “healer,” and she sounds a lot less crazy than most people?
What do we know, and think, about Christian Science, kids? It’s always felt like the most secular form of religious thought to me, with a sexy gnostic vibe that I kind of dig.

I dunno. I always enjoyed not getting rubella. Also, I had a girlfriend who dated a Christian Scientist before she met me. Ironically (I think?) he was a drug dealer.

The only Christian Scientist I ever knew was a teacher in middle school, and he always seemed a bit… off. Like he was just a little too happy all the time. It was unnerving.
